The OpenGL vs DirectX debate has been going on for years, and most of the arguments in favor of DirectX come down to marketing rather than technical merit. OpenGL runs on every major platform — Windows, Linux, macOS — while DirectX locks you into Windows. If you’re building a game or graphics app and want cross-platform support from day one, OpenGL (or its successor Vulkan) is the way to go.
